“We owned a rental house for over twenty years and when we retired we decided to make it our permanent residence. We thought about the changes we wanted, interviewed a few architects, and chose Gisela to help us with the design and the construction process.
Our wishes were to open up our living space; to create a new master suite; and to add a new entry. This required completely changing the layout of the main floor. In the downstairs family room, which was reconfigured to make room for a new bedroom, Gisela created a nook for an office with great views of the hills to the east and also greatly improved the connection with the main floor.
Communication was very important to us and we felt Gisela understood us well from the beginning. She communicated very well with us and the contractor.
Gisela added value to the project by making sure we could enjoy the expansive views from our hillside from every angle of the house; by creating elegance and style with design elements such as symmetry and detailed moldings; and overall by taking our vision and ensuring it came to life with proper scale and flow. She also helped us to bid the project and select a contractor.
Gisela’s help during the construction process was especially important since this was a remodel where many unknowns were discovered. Her experience from work she had done on similar projects really showed! She was always a step ahead, anticipating problems or possible conflicts. Gisela worked with the contractor to solve issues quickly to avoid unnecessary delays and extra costs. Additionally, Gisela worked with the supplier of the kitchen and bathroom cabinets to make sure they built them according to her design and all special features were included.
Everything came together beautifully, bringing a “Wow!” exclamation every time we have a new visitor. We are very happy with the results. We love our house and are very grateful for Gisela’s help. We would recommend her any time!”
